Before you start
You need:
- A List account (free)
- ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Education subscription
MCP connectors require Developer Mode, which is only available on paid ChatGPT tiers. Free accounts cannot connect MCP servers.
Step 1 — Enable Developer Mode in ChatGPT
- Open ChatGPT and go to Settings.
- Click Apps (or Account depending on your version).
- Scroll to Advanced and toggle on Developer Mode.
Developer Mode unlocks the Connectors section where you can add MCP servers. OpenAI notes this mode is powerful — only add servers you trust.
Step 2 — Add List as a connector
- In ChatGPT Settings, go to Connectors.
- Click Create.
- Fill in the fields:
- Name: List
- Description: Save and manage lists
- Endpoint URL:
https://list.unlokd.com/api/mcp
Click Create. ChatGPT will verify the endpoint and display the available tools. If verification succeeds, the connector is ready.
Step 3 — Authorize List
The first time you use the connector in a conversation, ChatGPT will prompt you to sign in to List. Complete the OAuth flow and you’re connected.
Step 4 — Test it
Start a new chat, click + → More → select List, then try:
Give me a packing list for a weekend hiking trip and save it to List.
Open your lists — it should appear there immediately.
Troubleshooting
- Endpoint verification fails
- Make sure the URL above is correct and that your List account is active. The endpoint must be reachable over HTTPS.
- Developer Mode isn’t visible
- This feature is only available to paid ChatGPT accounts. If you have a paid plan and still don’t see it, the rollout may not have reached your account yet.
- Lists aren’t appearing
- Refresh your lists page. If the problem persists, contact us.
